About me
Mr Chad Chang is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His practice spans reconstructive microsurgery, lymphatic supermicrosurgery, and aesthetic surgery of the face and body.
He completed UK plastic surgery training before undertaking advanced fellowships in Taiwan in head and neck reconstruction, complex reconstructive microsurgery, and lymphatic supermicrosurgery. These fellowships provided extensive experience in delicate soft-tissue surgery, supermicrosurgical techniques, and aesthetic planning for Asian and non-Asian patients.
Mr Chang has a specialist interest in lymphatic surgery and leads the Great North Lymphatic Centre. He offers ICG-guided mapping, lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA), vascularised lymph node and vessel transfer (VLNT/VLVT), and selective liposuction or debulking procedures for lymphoedema affecting the limbs, face, and trunk. He integrates reconstructive and aesthetic principles to improve function, contour, and long-term manageability, tailoring each procedure to the patient’s pattern of disease.
Alongside his reconstructive and lymphatic work, Mr Chang provides aesthetic procedures including eyelid surgery, facial rejuvenation, and body contouring. He plans these operations around proportion, tissue quality, and, where relevant, cultural preferences to achieve natural, durable results without over-correction.
He publishes widely in peer-reviewed journals, including work that has informed contemporary LVA techniques, and contributes to education and advisory roles in plastic and lymphatic surgery.
“My aim is to match the right operation to each patient – whether reconstructive, lymphatic, or aesthetic – guided by evidence, lived anatomy, and an honest discussion of outcomes.”
