Overview of the procedure
Common Rhinoplasty requests include reducing the size of the nose, smoothing out any bumps along the bridge, and modifying the shape and position of the nasal tip.
Typically, we carry out nasal surgery through incisions made solely on the inside, although sometimes external incisions are also used. These techniques are referred to as ‘closed’ or ‘open’ rhinoplasty; the closed method involves hidden incisions within the nostrils, allowing for a clear view of specific areas of the nose, such as the hump.
This procedure is performed under general anaesthetic, and afterwards, we place a customised cast to maintain the nose’s desired shape, allowing for optimal healing. It is often necessary to break the nasal bones to achieve the desired alterations. Additionally, we can address any breathing difficulties as part of the procedure.

Frequently asked questions
Our FAQs section provides comprehensive answers to the most common inquiries regarding our procedures, helping you to make informed decisions and gain clarity on what to expect throughout your journey at Beverley Clinic.
How long do I need to wear a cast for?
Typically, we place a moulded cast on for 1 week and then plasters for a further week. Any external stitches will also be removed after one week.
When can I resume social activities after surgery?
In general, most visible bruising tends to diminish within 10 to 14 days, and any external scars can be covered with makeup if necessary (though this is often not required). We recommend that going out during this time is fine, but to be cautious with larger gatherings, such as nightclubs, as they may pose a risk of accidental injury to the nose. Most patients can expect to return to work after two weeks.
When will the swelling subside?
Post-surgery, it is common for the nose to experience significant swelling, which can take up to a year for some individuals before the final outcome becomes apparent. Patience is essential, especially for those with thicker skin at the nasal tip. However, most individuals will notice the major changes in their nasal shape once the cast is removed, with finer details taking longer to become evident.
