Overview of the procedure
Chin enhancement generally involves making the front of the chin protrude more to achieve better facial balance, especially when viewed from the side. A short chin is a common concern, and there are two primary methods we use to address this issue.
The first option is the insertion of a chin implant, which is typically performed through a discreet incision made beneath the chin, allowing the scar to remain hidden in the natural shadow of the area. The implant is composed of a firm material, and a precise ‘pocket’ is created to ensure a snug fit, preventing any displacement.
Another method for enhancing the chin’s contour is microfat grafting. This procedure involves taking a small amount of your body’s natural fat through liposuction, which is then carefully processed and re-injected in small quantities into the chin. If you’re uncertain about committing to a permanent alteration in your chin’s shape, we also offer hyaluronic acid fillers, commonly referred to as ‘fillers’. These can enhance the chin’s appearance and can be easily dissolved if you decide they are not suitable for you, or they will gradually dissipate over time. In contrast, microfat grafting provides a more lasting enhancement.

Frequently asked questions
Our FAQs section provides comprehensive answers to the most common inquiries regarding our procedures, helping you to make informed decisions and gain clarity on what to expect throughout your journey at Beverley Clinic.
Can it affect my lip?
Too large an implant can make the lower lip pull out of position, and therefore we advise against having large implants and instead encourage subtle, bespoke improvements.
How long does it last?
The implant is designed to be life-long but sometimes a removal is necessary for a variety of reasons. As we age the skin thins, and in some cases this causes the outline of the implant could become visible, although this is uncommon.
Fat grafts should last a lifetime IF they take and increase the volume of the chin as desired. Some of the fat is reabsorbed by your body, and will require a repeated fat graft to get your desired result, but again this is uncommon.
Will my implant move around?
It’s uncommon to lose the position of the implant once inserted but it is a possibility. If this does happen we would try to re-position it back to the satisfactory position.
