Breast Uplift

Enhance the shape of your breasts and address sagging with a breast lift procedure performed by The Beverley’s trusted breast specialist, Andrew Pieri.

Overview of the procedure

As you age, skin elasticity and the density of breast tissue can diminish, resulting in a sagging appearance of the breast tissue, skin, and nipple position. Additionally, factors such as genetics, hormonal fluctuations, weight changes, and pregnancies can influence the appearance of your breasts. While these changes are a normal part of life, they can impact your self-esteem and body image. At Beverley Clinic we provide breast lift surgery for women of all ages to address issues of sagging, ptosis, or asymmetrical breasts.

It is important to note that a breast lift does not increase overall breast volume; rather, it modifies the positioning of your natural breast tissue on the chest. However, depending on your aesthetic desires, a breast lift can be combined with implant augmentation to enhance the projection and fullness of your breasts. This augmentation can either be carried out at the same time as the lift or scheduled as a separate procedure at a later date.

Why choose breast uplift surgery?

A breast uplift is a surgical solution for women seeking firmer and fuller breasts. At Beverley Clinic we will reshape and elevate the breasts using your natural tissue, remove surplus skin, and reposition the nipples higher. This procedure is particularly common among women experiencing breast ptosis, sagging or flat breasts, or those with larger areolas.

This transformative surgery can enhance the appearance of your breasts, improve body contours, and boost your confidence by addressing the natural decline in breast tissue structure over time. There are various factors that can contribute to changes in breast appearance, so it is essential to understand the reasons behind your breast alterations to determine the most suitable surgical approach.

Age

Your skin’s support network will start to break down as you age, causing a loss of elasticity which contributes to sagging breasts. Breast fullness and firmness are compromised as your support diminishes.

Gravity

Gravity works in a similar way, and your suspensory ligaments will weaken and stretch due to the downward force. A breast uplift procedure will remove excess skin and improve the shape of your breasts.

Hormones

Hormones such as oestrogen can affect your breast appearance. For individuals with an oestrogen hormone deficiency or those going through menopause, breast tissue can turn into fat and appear softer. This reduction in density diminishes the breast tissue’s structure and makes it more prone to ptosis and drooping.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Breasts are extremely adaptable during pregnancy, changing in size and fullness in preparation for breastfeeding. Once you have stopped breastfeeding, your breasts will likely return to their pre-conception size. However, depending on the elastic quality of your skin, it may remain stretched. Women are often left with softer breasts with less fullness, appearing flat with little to no volume.

Preparing for Your Breast Uplift Surgery

Prior to any procedure, you will have an initial face-to-face consultation with us, to discuss your personal breast and cosmetic goals. This will help us determine the optimal surgical technique to achieve your desired result.

Our breast uplift technique

Following an initial consultation, your surgeon will advise on the best surgical technique to achieve your desired results. This chosen technique will determine the position of the incisions and scars post-surgery.

Below are the three most frequently used scar patterns; however, other options are available depending on your breasts’ shape and requirements.

Circum-Areola Mastopexy

During a circum-areola (i.e. around the areola) procedure, the scar is contained around the nipple. As a result, the incision is well-hidden as it lies at the point of the colour change between the breast and areola skin. This method is popular in women with mild breast sagging in the lower pole of the breast and those wanting an elevated nipple position. This method is also used in combination with breast augmentation surgery with breast implants and a breast reduction surgery termed Benelli breast reduction.

Vertical Mastopexy

A vertical mastopexy will involve two incisions, known as a lollipop incision, which is a small opening around the perimeter of the areola and a vertical line from the areola to the bottom of the breast.  In addition to raising the nipple position, this surgical procedure allows for the removal of excess skin in the lower pole of the breast. This corrects mild to moderate sagging, with results showing a more projected breast with restored volume in the cleavage and upper pole region.

Anchor Shape Mastopexy

Similar to the vertical mastopexy with an incision around the areola and towards the bottom of the breast, this procedure will include a scar under the breast, in or near the crease. In some cases, this additional incision is minimal, however, it often needs to extend across the width of the breast. This method is used to correct moderate to severe breast tissue sagging or in women who require a significant relocation of the nipple. This particular scar configuration is the most prevalent and is also utilised in breast reduction surgeries.

Our clients experience at Beverley Clinic

Breast Uplift Patient

Everything from start to finish was absolutely flawless!

From the moment I met Andrew, he was so down to earth and honestly made me so comfortable in the most vulnerable of times (I’m a fainter) he didn’t rush me, just reassured me. He listened and gave me his advice to ensure I got the results that I wanted. On the day of surgery again, he made me feel at ease I could not fault the care and attention him and his team gave me. Helen followed up with aftercare to see how I was, and it was generally just like speaking to a friend. I urge anyone that is thinking of getting an uplift procedure to book a consultation with Andrew. Best thing I have ever done, roll on pretty bra’s and spaghetti tops ????

Frequently asked questions

Our FAQs section provides comprehensive answers to the most common inquiries regarding our procedures, helping you to make informed decisions and gain clarity on what to expect throughout your journey at Beverley Clinic.

Where are the scars placed and how long till I’m healed?

The scars are typically in an anchor shape, around the areolar, and down to the inframammary crease and then along the crease to varying lengths (which are still typically hidden). Most patients are dressing free between 2-3 weeks and the dressings are shower proof so you can self care as normal in the shower.

What are the main risks?

Occasionally the point at which all the scars meet under the breast the wound can separate slightly which needs dressings for a few more days. When the breast is moulded back in to a round shape small areas of your fat under the skin can become firm as it heals – this generally settles over a few months are rarely is visible with the naked eye. One side heals quicker and softens quicker than the other. Occasionally the nipples can be numb for a period, but rarely forever.

When can I wear a proper bra?

We generally advise 8 weeks in a sports bra and then the swelling will have sufficiently settled to allow you to get measured for a proper bra.

What are the benefits of breast uplift surgery?

Beverley Clinic’s mastopexy surgery offers a significant enhancement for women’s breasts. While it is a great choice for those seeking a more lifted and youthful appearance, the procedure also addresses issues such as uneven breasts, enlarged areolas, or sagging. Other advantages include a boost in confidence and self-esteem, correction of tubular breasts, and improved nipple symmetry.

How long does a breast lift last?

Breast uplift results can last for ten years or more, depending on your age at the time of the procedure. Over time, natural sagging may occur again. Lifestyle factors, such as weight changes or not wearing a supportive bra, can contribute to sagging after the breast lift.

How much does breast uplift surgery cost?

Breast uplift surgery at Beverley Clinic is customised to fit your specific needs based on your cosmetic objectives. For example, a breast lift can be combined with implants to enhance fullness. Therefore, the cost is determined by your expectations, body shape, and goals.

Are implants used in breast lift surgery?

A standard breast lift surgery does not include implants. Instead, at Beverley Clinic, we work with your existing breast tissue to achieve the desired results. These advanced surgical techniques will lift the breasts, tighten the skin, and enhance the position of the areolae.

However, many women choose to have breast enlargement at the same time. This additional procedure involves using a silicone gel implant to enhance the fullness, shape, and projection of the breasts.

When will I get the full feeling in my nipples?

During a breast lift operation, the nerve supply to the nipples may be affected. As a result, changes in nipple sensation are quite common and typically return to normal within six weeks after surgery. These changes can include increased sensitivity in the nipple and areola areas, as well as a feeling of tightness across the breasts as they heal.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that, as with any surgical procedure, there are associated risks. In rare instances, individuals may not fully regain sensation in their nipples.

How long does it take to heal from breast lift surgery?

It is suggested to take 7 to 14 days off work after your surgery to allow for recovery. During this period, you can use your arms normally, but it is advisable to stick to light activities.

Complete recovery usually occurs within 6 to 12 weeks following the surgery. During this time, you should refrain from lifting heavy objects.

What is the recovery like from breast lift surgery?

It is important to take care during recovery to avoid complications and allow your body adequate time to heal. A post-operative support bra or dressing is used to minimise swelling and fluid accumulation. This also provides comfort and facilitates a quicker healing process.

After the operation, you might experience tenderness, pain, swelling, bruising, and numbness around the areolas. These are normal responses to the surgery, and such symptoms should decrease in the weeks following your procedure. For a typical mastopexy surgery, it may take up to 12 weeks to see the results and achieve full recovery.
