Data Protection: Privacy Notice for Patients
Our responsibility
As your treating team we must keep medical records in accordance with the good medical practice guide as outlined by the General Medical Council. We have to communicate with other healthcare professionals, such as your GP, anaesthetists and nurses that may be/or will get involved in delivering your care. We have to protect your data.
We act as a data controller and are registered with the ICO as such. We have to share aspects of your data with the hospitals and clinics we care for you in, our practice manager and team who co-ordinate your care, insurance companies if you are using insurance to seek my care, and third parties involved in the billing process.
Data Processing
In order to comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) , we need to make you aware of the use of your data for these purposes and seek your consent to do so. I only use HIPPA and GDPR compliant software for secure, encrypted storage of your medical record and data. Any exchange of information as outlines above is done using encrypted, password protected channels such as secure email clients, and cloud storage. We do use your email address to correspond with you regarding your care.
Your responsibility
You acknowledge we have to handle your data in this secure way and share it where necessary to discharge my responsibility for co-ordinating whatever care you request of me. You can withdraw this consent at any time in writing.
